Born in Prizren (former Yugoslavia) in 1983, Meral Kureyshi moved to Switzerland with her family in 1992 and now lives in Bern. She studied literature and German language, founded the poetry studio, and now works as a freelance author. Her debut novel, “Elephants in the Garden” (Elephanten im Garten), was nominated for the Swiss Book Prize, received numerous awards, and has been translated into multiple languages. Kureyshi was also awarded ‘Das zweite Buch’ literary prize from the Marianne and Curt Dienemann Foundation for her novel “Five Seasons”.
