The eighteen-year-old protagonist lives with, and is dependent on, her mother, who rarely if ever leaves their house in a small, provincial Swiss city. And she has been friendless since the death of her gerbils. ​Then, when she gets to know Jo something finally seems to click. Jo couldn´t care less what others think; Jo is immunized against others´ expectations; Jo does what she wants. An illegal basement club and a hunting lodge become the training grounds for first experiences with drugs, electronic music and sex. The two of them develop a deep friendship. Then everything spirals out of control.
