Resistance and Audacity
This event is in German.
The 1970s marked a period of awakening for women in Switzerland: they fought for the right to vote, established the first women’s shelters, published magazines, and founded publishing houses and women’s bookstores. During this time, literary production by women flourished, becoming a vital platform for feminist voices. While some women writers from this era are still known today, many have — like so many before them — become victims of history’s forgetfulness. In their book “Resistance and Audacity: Swiss Women Writers of the 1970s”, Nadia Brügger and Valerie-Katharina Meyer give a fresh voice to these forgotten writers. In conversation with Verena Stössinger, they reflect on the literary contributions of these authors and how they transformed the Swiss literary landscape.
