Faruk Šehić
Quiet Flows the Una
The discussion will be held in Bosnian with German translation.
Faruk Šehić is one of the most prominent representatives of what is known as the “overrun generation,” those born in Yugoslavia in the 1970s. In 2011, he rose to prominence with his debut novel “Knjiga o Uni”, now available in English as “Quiet Flows the Una”. The novel is a poignant attempt to process the trauma of war through writing, and follows its protagonist through three distinct periods: childhood and youth in Yugoslavia, the harrowing experience of life at the front during the Bosnian War, and the struggle to build a normal life after the conflict.
