With the rise of the European Union as a 'peace project' and the fall of the Berlin Wall, it once seemed that war, nationalism, and authoritarianism were behind us. Now they are back. For his film 'The Song of the Others', Vadim Jendreyko travelled Europe to find voices to document the continent’s turbulent past. In former theatres of war, he met men who were trying to transform the legacies of other men. With the aid of film clips, we will discuss the state of Europe today, the dangers of neglecting history and the role patriarchal structures play in all this.
