Anton Weil

Super lonely

Literaturhaus Basel

This event is in German.

In his debut work, acclaimed actor and musician Anton Weil explores the defining themes of his generation: love, sexuality, masculinity, solidarity, isolation, grief, and new beginnings. The protagonist, Vito, longs to escape Berlin — a city teeming with people yet where he has no meaningful contacts, and acting opportunities are rare. Haunted by the death of his mother, who died of cancer when he was 17, Vito longs to return to the Atlantic coast, and a time when he was once happy and his mother was still alive. Seeking refuge, he retreats to a corner pub to drown his sorrows in beer.
