The Austrian writer Robert Menasse has come to prominence in recent years for his European novels “The Capital” and “The Enlargement”. For the latter, he received the European Book Prize in 2023. This spring his Europe essay “Tomorrow´s World” will be published by Suhrkamp. In Basel, he will discuss his vision of how to overcome nationalism in a future, democratic Europe, its contradictions and borders – and what this means for Switzerland.
