NATALKA SNIADANKO
The Neat Orders of Archduke Wilhelm
On the eve of the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Sniadanko presents a panoramic tale of an unconventional family extending from nineteenth century Ukraine to the present. Seen through the perspective of a fictional, yet nonetheless historical, archduke, as well as by strong women of different generations, her novel traces a path from the Habsburg monarchy, the October Revolution, the turmoil of the Second World War, the post-Soviet crises to the burgeoning Ukrainian independence.
