ISABEL ALLENDE (*1942 in Lima), ist seit ihrem Debüt «Das Geisterhaus» (1982) eine der weltweit beliebtesten Autorinnen. Ihre Bücher haben sich millionenfach verkauft und sind in mehr als 40 Sprachen übersetzt worden. Sie wurde u.a. mit der National Book Award Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters ausgezeichnet. Allende lebt in Kalifornien.
